We are IR

The Society of Interventional Radiology recognizes that the success of our mission draws strength not just from the clinical expertise of our physicians, but from their backgrounds and experiences as human beings in the world. An innovative, competitive IR workforce requires more than market competencies—it must also carry the power of innate, authentic human connection.

Our society values a culture of excellence in which all members of the IR community are accepted, respected and embraced.

Our commitment

  • We are the voice for IRs and advocate for them at the national and international level.
  • We support all members in their preferred model of IR practice at every stage of their careers through tools and education that ultimately benefit patients.
  • We recruit and develop the best and brightest talent from all backgrounds to advance the specialty within clinical medicine and to better represent the patient population IRs serve.
  • We commit to antiracist and antisexist efforts, policies and programs that aim to increase the numbers of underrepresented minorities and women within our specialty.
  • We promote a culture of inclusion in all aspects of the society’s programs, policies, communications and services.
