SIR and SIR Foundation Steering Council
The Steering Council is responsible for moving forward strategic initiatives and priorities of the SIR and SIR Foundation Strategic Plan.
The Steering Council is responsible for moving forward strategic initiatives and priorities of the SIR and SIR Foundation Strategic Plan. The intra-Society body reviews issues and opportunities that arise from sections, divisions, clinician specialty councils and committees. The Steering Council encourages and places an emphasis on proposals that include collaborative input and engagement across divisions and Clinical Specialty Councils to address critical issues.
The Steering Council has the authority to delegate work to the appropriate body or establish task forces to advance such work. If a need for additional resources arises, the proposal is managed by the Steering Council and then, as appropriate, advanced to the SIR Board of Directors for authorizing supplementary resources as necessary.
The Steering Council has the authority to move strategy forward for the Society as outlined by the joint SIR and SIR Foundation Strategic Plan. The Steering Council is responsible for organizing and monitoring activity across organizational bodies and makes recommendations to the board through the SIR past president.
Composition
The SIR and SIR Foundation Steering Council shall consist of the SIR past president, SIR division councilors, and SIR Foundation division chairs and clinical specialty councilors. Additional at-large members may be added by the SIR Board of Directors, as needed. The SIR past president shall serve as chair of the Steering Council and shall convene the council, as necessary, and is responsible for communicating actions of the council to the board. Members of the Steering Council shall serve a term in accordance with their terms as division councilors or clinical specialty councilors.
