Curriculum

Residency Essentials covers everything core to IR presented in over 45 clinical topics and 4 requisite knowledge modules. Designed for residents in their last 2 years of IR residency, this program offers residents up-to-date educational material delivered in a program-specific portal in the SIR learning center that can be accessed anytime, anywhere.

Program directors can provide a uniform and comprehensive didactic curriculum as required by the Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education (ACGME) IR Residency program requirements (section IV.C.) and document and track an individual resident's performance and mastery of a subject area as required by the ACGME (section V.A.1).

Addressing trainee education needs

Residency Essentials provides a universal curriculum that will enhance the breadth and consistency of residency training in accordance with Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education (ACGME) guidelines and expand training in disease-specific areas not specifically addressed by ACGME.

To address this goal, a comprehensive curriculum was created. Primarily developed by APDIR members and subject matter experts familiar with ACGME requirements, the curriculum will provide all interventional radiology residents with well-rounded knowledge, from the essentials of clinical IR care to disease-specific treatments, research fundamentals, and the business and economics of medicine.
