This month’s journal-based CME article is titled "Microwave ablation as bridging to liver transplant for patients with hepatocellular carcinoma: a single-center retrospective analysis".This is a single center retrospective analysis to evaluate the safety and efficacy of microwave (MW) ablation as the first-line locoregional therapy (LRT) in the treatment of patients with hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC).  Specifically the authors evaluated this treatment as a bridging therapy to liver transplant.

This program is designed to meet the educational needs of interventional radiologists, nurses, techs, and trainees at all levels with special interest in treatment of patients with HCC and undergoing consideration for liver transplantation. To receive CME credit for this journal-based CME activity, participants must read the journal article and score 75% or better on the post test. Participants will have three opportunities to score 75% or better.

Learning Objectives

After participating in this journal-based CME activity, learners should be able to:

  • Discuss the role of microwave ablation as bridging therapy to liver transplantation
  • Described life expectancy following transplantation
  • Understand local tumor progression rates after ablative therapy.
