SIR remembers IR ally Rep. Donald M. Payne Jr.
SIR extends its deepest condolences to the family, friends and colleagues of Rep. Donald M. Payne Jr. of New Jersey, who passed away April 24. Rep. Payne was a consistent champion for interventional radiologists and interventional radiology patient care. A founder and leader of the Congressional Peripheral Artery Disease (PAD) Caucus, Rep. Payne put forward legislation to ensure coverage for PAD screenings and held numerous hearings, briefings and events to improve awareness of PAD in underserved and at-risk communities. He was also an outspoken advocate of men’s health issues, establishing the Congressional Men’s Health Caucus and hosting a congressional briefing on the benefits of prostate artery embolization, which featured representatives of SIR. We are grateful for his leadership and service.
