Clinical Specialty Councils
Clinical Specialty Councils are charged with advising and developing programs and services for SIR members on both image-guided procedures and nonprocedural patient care.
The Society of Interventional Radiology Clinical Specialty Councils (CSCs) are charged with advising and developing programs and services for SIR members on both image-guided procedures and nonprocedural patient care. Each CSC shall provide critical assessment and oversight of the overall status of IR and of existing SIR activities within that clinical domain.
The eight CSCs each focus on a specific clinical domain and are responsible for integrating functional division efforts with SIR and SIR Foundation. They are also tasked with collaborating in clinical practice development, health policy and economics, research, quality, and education and training. Through collaboration with these functional areas, CSCs advise SIR and SIR Foundation in the following ways:
- Proposing research topics for SIR Foundation prioritization
- Suggesting topics for SIR guidelines and statements development and participating in writing panels to complete such documents
- Identifying gaps and needs in SIR education and recommending programs to fill those needs
- Recommending responsive actions for health policy and economics requests
- Identifying other organizations in the clinical specialty space and noting opportunities for external collaboration or outreach
